The Economic and Social Council Holds a Dialogue Session on Decentralization and Hosts the Governorates’ Councils.


Within the framework of the national dialogue on decentralization, initiated by the government, the Economic and Social Council, in cooperation with the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, held a session to discuss the experience of decentralization in Jordan. The President of the Council, Dr. Mustafa Hamarneh, explained that this session represents the beginning of a series of sessions to be held by the council. The aim of those sessions will be to reach consensus and to gather recommendations to formulate a comprehensive vision for a national strategy for the decentralization process in Jordan, which would form the basis for strengthening local administration, citizens’ participation in the decision making process, and emphasizing democracy.
